Sun Safety

Approximately 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with Melanoma each year, and nearly 8,000 die from it (*2005 CDC). Be smart about the sun and do your best to prevent problems in the future. Try to avoid the sun when the UV rays are strongest during the hours of 10am-4pm.  Apply sunscreen to your child at least 30 minutes prior to going in the sun and reapply every 2 hrs while in the sun, especially if swimming is involved. Choose a sunscreen that has both UVA and UVB protection with SPF >30.
